Thank you, Marilyn Musgrave, for exploring uranium mining issues |

by Ann Hagaman, Timnath Letter to the Editor Greeley Tribune October 29, 2007 I wish to give heartfelt thanks to Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave for taking the time to explore the issues surrounding the proposed Uranium Mining Proposals and to host a forum in Nunn and then to take a position opposing the uranium mining in Northern Colorado. My son and I appreciate her support for the concerns of residents in the region who fear declining property value, health risks and decimation of our way of life here. We urge the political leaders and regulators to go beyond doing their jobs by looking for technical correctness in the applications and uphold their obligation to protect the health, safety and welfare of our citizens -- particularly our children who stand in such great risk from the effects of this mining. The facts of the industry are indisputable. This is a dangerous business and has no place in the heart of a populated agricultural area. The notion that this activity may be approved because the applications and paperwork are correctly provided points to a heinous folly. We applaud Ms. Musgrave and thank her and urge the political and regulatory leaders in Colorado to take the action that takes care of our Colorado lands, waters and residents.
