by Teresa Alcorn (Letter to the Editor) Fort Collins Coloradoan January 3, 2008 The Fort Collins City Council should be congratulated for taking a stand against Powertech and the big money interests that would have a uranium mine in our backyards. This proposal (could) not only destroy our environment but kill our children. I can only pray that the other county governments (Weld, Morgan) will follow this lead and stop these opportunistic and foreign interests from getting a stronghold on our future. It made me very proud to see the majority review the facts and see the truth behind this proposal before they spent our tax money to study something that has no place in this community. Not now! Not ever! City Council member Wade Troxell, on the other hand, showed his true colors ... by finding it amusing to bog down the office with issues like this. It serves no purpose other than to provide him with a platform that is only self serving and arrogant. He appears to thrive on this bureaucratic red tape, which in turn requires our government to spend our hard-earned money for no real apparent reason. He cried out it's "office protocol," but in the end, this constituent believes his bottom line is power and control. Teresa Alcorn lives in Wellington
