Colorado HB 08-1161 is currently being reviewed by the Agriculture, Livestock, & Natural Resources Committee. This Bill requires that mining companies restore aquifers affected by mining operations (e.g., in-situ uranium mining) to their pre-mining conditions. It is a reasonable "leave it like you found it" requirement. It will be up for a final committee vote on either Tuesday, February 19th or February 20th. HB 08-1165, which removes the veil of secrecy around mining exploration, is to be heard in the House Agriculture Committee on either Tuesday, February 26th or February 27th. You can help ensure that these bills are enacted into law by expressing your concerns to the members of the Agriculture Committee and your State Representatives.
