We're midway through a knock-down, drag-out fight with the uranium mining industry, and we just won round two! By a vote of 49-to-16, the Colorado House of Representatives passed strong protections that will keep uranium mining pollution out of Colorado's unspoiled mountains, rivers and streams, groundwater and our magnificent open spaces.

Now, as the bill heads to the Colorado Senate, we're expecting the mining industry to pull out all the stops. We need your help to push past their opposition in the Senate and send this bill to the Governor's desk. Please email your Colorado state senator and ask them to support House Bill 1161 to keep Colorado's waters, unspoiled mountains and open spaces safe from uranium mining pollution. The allies of the mining industry attempted to strip critical environmental protections from this bill on the floor of the House. But thanks to the efforts of Environment Colorado and our allies -- and thousands of emails from supporters like you -- they failed.

But we're expecting companies like Powertech to rally their team for a last-ditch effort to defeat this bill in the Senate.
